EVENTS

A comprehensive list of performance-based/narrative work events or projects I've led, coordinated, or developed.

KCACTF 4, Festival 57: Devised Theatre Intiative Coordinator

Project Overview

 Devised Theatre Initiative Coordinator

As the Devising Coordinator for Region 4, I played a key role in organizing and facilitating devised theatre programming while collaborating with the Regional Committee to promote inclusive and equitable programming. Our region primarily serves the U.S. Southeast, spanning from Virginia to Mississippi, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Inclusive and Equitable Dynamic Programming

  • Coordinating four teams from diverse institutions, including two-year community colleges and state universities, with teams from UNCG, NC A&T,  Bluegrass Community and Technical College, and Georgia Southern University.

  • Leading masterclass workshops on Devising: Ensemble-Based Theatre and Theatre in Connection with the Environment, exploring typography, spatial awareness, and viewpoints.

  • Designing two showcase opportunities:
    • The first showcase featured invited respondents who provided feedback using Liz Lerman's Critical Response Process (CRP)
    • The second was an invited showcase with an audience of over 60 attendees!

4 Teams, 4 Colleges, Limitless Exploration...

Festival 57 Devised Theatre prompt was Lost and Found, challenging each ensemble to create a 7-10 minute piece exploring how this theme fuels their creativity, drawing from the journeys of both losing and finding.

The interpretations were limitless.

  • UNCG examined the effects of loss within the mind’s confines through the lens of an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
  • Georgia Southern explored the discovery of queer-affirming spaces.
  • Bluegrass Community and Technical College delved into the experience of found femininity within the security of collective womanhood.
  • NC A&T presenting an intimate piece investigating the complexities of mental health’s ebbs and flows.

Each team received a Certificate of Engagement to recognize their participation.
